Molly Isbell, PhD
Director, Quality Assurance and Data Science

Dr. Isbell is responsible for the operation of Quality Assurance and Data Sciences, providing management oversight of resources, project execution, and financials. She has more than 20 years of experience in applying both technical and management support to analytical QA applications. Beginning in 2003, Dr. Isbell has played a key leadership role in the development of QA programs and systems for U.S. government CBRNE sampling and analysis programs. Dr. Isbell also provides senior-level input and statistical analysis support for field and laboratory testing and validation efforts, proficiency tests, risk assessments, site investigations, background studies, monitoring plans, health effects studies, and laboratory experimental designs.

Michael Re, PhD
Director, Chemistry and Engineering

Dr. Re is responsible for the operation of our Chemistry and Engineering division, providing management oversight of resources, project execution, business development, and financials. Dr. Re directs a staff of chemists and engineers in support of programs related to criminal justice, national defense, and homeland security. He also provides technical consulting, program management, project support, and expert advice in the development of trace standards and methodologies for explosives and chemical threat detection, technical training, and chemical signatures detection and identification. Prior to joining SigSci, Dr. Re was President at Cerilliant, where he directed organic and analytical chemists in the development of analytical reference materials for the environmental, forensic, and pharmaceutical testing industries.

Curt Hewitt, PhD
Director, Biological Sciences

Dr. Curt Hewitt is responsible for the operation of the Biological Science division. He is a synthetic molecular biologist and virologist with fifteen years’ experience contributing to and managing federal research programs. Throughout his career, Dr. Hewitt has served as Project Manager and Principal Investigator, leading projects focused on clinical diagnostics and forensic signatures of CBRNE threats. In addition, Dr. Hewitt serves as a subject matter expert for a range of topics including the assessment of biosafety for artificial intelligence models, human and microbial DNA forensics, applied synthetic biology and enhancing pathogen detection methods for improved public health outcomes.

Paul Flanigan, PhD
Director, Applied Laboratory Services

Sara Szmania, MBA
Director, Charlottesville Operations

Ms. Szmania is responsible for the company’s Charlottesville, Virginia operations and provides direction and technical support for active MASINT programs. Ms. Szmania serves as a Principal Scientist with the company and, throughout her career, has managed and contributed to efforts awarded by federal government clients which integrate technical, operational, programmatic, and policy aspects of national security issues. Her strengths include strategic planning, risk mitigation, outcome analysis, financial management, process optimization, and managing change.

Danielle Dickinson, PhD
Director, Operational Solutions, Training, and Threat Reduction

Dr. Dickinson is responsible for the operation of the Operational Solutions, Training, and Threat Reduction business unit. She has over fifteen years of experience in technical and business strategy development, proposal management, and execution of technical programs and product development programs addressing the detection, mitigation, and response to WMD events. This experience includes the capture and management of programs for the development, testing, and evaluation of new instrumentation and protocols for the military, homeland security, and intelligence and forensics communities.

Leslie Parke, PMP, CQA
Director, Forensic Laboratory

Ms. Parke is responsible for the operation of the accredited Forensic DNA Laboratory. She is a credentialed Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute and a Certified Quality Auditor through the American Society for Quality. Ms. Parke oversees a staff of DNA analysts and technicians executing casework services for federal, state, and local agencies, and manages the laboratory’s operations, quality systems, and accreditation compliance. Ms. Parke also has 25 years of experience managing biology-focused projects of public health and national security interest, involving synthetic biology, viral evolution modeling, and computational threat assessment.
