Untitled Document Signature Science has been designing and building custom air sampling systems for over 15 years. Sensor development and integration was added in 2002 to compliment our historical emphasis on air samplers. Serving niche markets with limited production and specialty purpose samplers, our experienced staff offer a full range of design and production capability, including custom hardware, firmware and software design to meet the most demanding customer specifications.

Signature Science samplers and sensors are completely autonomous units with integrated power systems. Sampling intervals can be pre-programmed via custom software or sampling can be manually initiated from remote stand-off locations via radio frequency (RF) links. Most of the samplers that we have developed have been based on some form of sorbent technology; sensors can encompass the range in state-of-the-art detection technology including surface acoustic wave (SAW), ion mobility spectroscopy (IMS), and others.

All Signature Science samplers and sensors are built with a focus on functionality that begins at the design stage. All designs utilize 3-D CAD programs to model the dimension and functional fit of the mechanical, pneumatic and electronic subsystems that make up each integrated sampler or sensor. Extensive pre-deployment testing, both to various Mil Specs and other customer-specific specifications, ensures field ruggedness and reliability. To support field testing of our custom sampling systems, Signature Science designs and builds one-of-a-kind release mechanisms that deliver known amounts of specific vapors or aerosols into the air to test the capabilities of the samplers and sensors. Our field testing staff have conducted large scale demonstration tests of many different systems at federally supported test facilities in various locations around the country.
