Signature Science’s staff has provided hands-on CBRN training and scientific
support services to the federal government for over a decade, and currently provides
anti-terrorism services to number of different federal and military agencies,
as well as to other clients in the law enforcement community. As the terrorist
threat has escalated over the past several years, our staff has grown to include
former police, fire and military personnel who work together with our multidisciplinary
scientific staff to deliver a broad range of services related to public safety
training and operations support. Our corporate background in anti-terrorism scientific
services provides a strong complement to on-the-ground experience overseas in
chemical and biological weapons detection and military operations support. Actual
field experience at home and abroad is one of the key ingredients that sets us
apart from other would-be experts. This field experience, together with scientific
expertise in chemical, biological and radiological threats, forms the basis of
the law enforcement and operations training and technical services that Signature
Science provides to local, state and federal public safety agencies, and private
corporations.
Signature Science law enforcement training and technical services comprises
a wide variety of specialized training courses and support services covering
different aspects of chemical, biological and radiological threat awareness,
detection, sampling and interdiction. Training courses range from basic awareness
training to detailed training for first responders, incident commanders and
other operational personnel. These cover the gamut from one- to two-day overviews
to 70-day in-depth studies with extensive hands-on activities and highly realistic
field exercises. In addition to training, Signature Science provides technical
support services in the areas of threat-assessment, security and risk management,
pre-incident and response planning, laboratory quality assurance, and anti-terrorism
security for large public events.
Two recent additions to Signature Science’s array of law enforcement
support services are a canine chemical/biological detection training program
and a two-week training course in clandestine chemical/biological weapons laboratories.
The canine training program takes advantage of canine olfactory senses, which
allow the dogs to detect unique signatures of chemical and biological threat
agents and precursors at levels well below that of the most sensitive analytical
instrumentation, making them the perfect detection tools in many operational
scenarios. The chemical/biological weapons laboratories training course is aimed
at providing local and state clandestine narcotic laboratory teams with information
to help them avoid mistaking a weapons lab for a narcotics lab. The course covers
clandestine chemical/biological lab methods and current production trends, toxicology
and chemical/physical hazards, air monitoring, hazard assessment and control,
use of personal protective equipment, site control, decontamination, site emergencies,
chemical handling and related topics.
