| Signature Science conducts laboratory and field tests to demonstrate or validate
sampling/sensing techniques and systems, with the goal of demonstrating (or
validating) the extent to which these systems and techniques are able to collect
biological and chemical signatures at levels expected in the environment. These
sensing systems, built by Signature Science and/or other organizations, include
those designed to collect pathogens (bacteria and viruses) and toxins present
in the environment. Test support includes designing and evaluating statistically
defendable studies, developing associated sampling strategies and sample sizes,
test planning and coordination, and evaluating and interpreting results. A successful
test requires execution of a meaningful data collection scheme and data evaluation
plan. We rely on our statistical expertise to translate test objectives into
a sampling and analysis approach that provides sufficient data to address the
investigation objectives, while minimizing the number of samples collected.
At the discretion of the client, test objectives may also involve assessments
of device or personnel deployment readiness, operator interface(s), and overall
field performance.
We provide client support of field events that range in complexity from simple
collection activities to more difficult "field releases." Such site sampling
activities are conducted at federally supported test facilities around the country
and at cooperating commercial host facilities. After test activities have been
completed, Signature Science interprets data collected, compiles a detailed
report summarizing the test activities, provides an assessment as to the success
of the test and sampling/sensor systems based on the original test goals and
objectives, and indicates areas for improvement and/or follow-on work.
